Go away Gustav!

So, Gustav is on the way to La, in case you haven't heard! Hopefully, it won't have a great effect on us in Shreveport. I suspect that we will have some wind, probably a LOT of rain, and maybe some power outages. But who knows. We are more concerned with my family and my hometown. When RITA came through three years ago, they were without power for 10 days.

The picture below is not great BUT the black "S" dot in the middle of the state is pretty much right on my hometown of Elizabeth. You can actually see better with this link to a google map of the projected path. My mom, my sister, her husband, and their 3 kids are driving in tonight to stay with us. We will keep everyone posted.

The Grubbs family came to stay with us on Friday night on their way to evacuate to Kim's parent's house in Oklahoma. It was nice to see them again, but I wish it weren't under these circumstances. We pray that this storm is not as bad as they are making it out to be.

Droddy Olympics....."Michael Phelps is a good swimma"

My children have officially become PHELPS PHANS. I would love to have a dollar for every time Seth has made the comment "Michael Phelps is a good swimma." My boys have been carrying around a newspaper picture of Micheal Phelps that their Mimi gave them.

So, in honor of the Beijing Olympics and all the athletes, we have been competing in some Olympics of our own. Here we have diving. Its a good thing we have such fluffy pillows. I never in my life dreamed that this would be how these pillows would be used!!!

Here we have fencing (the preschool kind, of course, complete with styrofoam swords).
Not pictured are our competitions in track and field, wrestling (which was happening long before the Olympics began), and (gulp) gymnastics.

Around the house.

So, this picture makes a bit more sense when you understand that we took several in a row with different poses. This is our sleepy pose. Jonah and Abram did not get the memo. Seth is a happy sleeper.
Cutest baby in the world? Most definitely.
The trio of brothers showing some love. We had to do some arm twisting to get this picture made. Turned out pretty good.
Well, we're getting our lives ready for our first fall semester in Shreveport. There's a lot going on but we will try to be faithful bloggers.

In case you were wondering where in the world Shreveport is located....

We visited the children's museum here recently and thought we would take this picture of Jamey showing everyone where on the map Shreveport is........just in case any of you would like to visit!!!!

Student week at Glorietta, NM

Here are some pictures from the round of mini-golf we played with our BCM students while at Student Week at Glorietta, NM. We enjoyed spending time with our students and together as a family. David Platt was one of the main speakers, so it was nice spending some time with him, as well. It was both spiritually refreshing and fun. We had a great time, despite the 15 hour road trip (each way) with three small kids!!!!

The mountains of New Mexico were beautiful. They are just another reminder of God's great power and love.
Abram had a great week. His personality is starting to show more and more each day. He is such a sweet and patient baby. His brothers are constantly in his face, and he just smiles at them.
