Glacier Blue can look kind of purple--so says Bear.

Mary and I continue to check things off of our TO DO list as we transition. We've squared away most of the details related to the sale of our house and the purchase of the new one. Mortgage secured...check. Inspection done....check. Repairs being made in Atlanta...check. I guess the bulk of our time this week (beyond work and the normal routine) has been devoted to getting our move scheduled AND buying a new car!

I have shopped the Ark-La-Tex (still getting used to that term) and today we finalized the purchase of a 2008 Honda CR-V. Very exciting. This is the first NEW car that either Mary or I has ever bought. We had a pretty good experience and now we are driving a car with less than 20 miles on the odometer. I'm not used to that kind of pressure when I drive. When you drive an older car....especially one that is paid for you feel no pressure to preserve or maintain. I really felt the pressure tonight when we were driving from the dealership and Jonah and Seth were waving around the lollipops the salesman had given them. We were definitely watching them like hawks. This is why we went with a grey interior instead of "ivory". Ivory and Droddy boys do not mix. So the exterior color of the car is "glacier blue". Mary and I looked at it and liked it well enough...we don't really care because we're not really car people. After we finalized everything, I was experiencing buyer's remorse because the salesman--whose given name is actually Bear, by the way--referred to the color as purple. It's actually quite nice--i already feel at home in my new purple car. I will post pictures once we have the ability to download pictures from Mary's camera.

A place to lay our heads....other than an air mattress!!

Let me start this entry by saying I am SOOO thankful to have a place to stay in Shreveport that is RENT-FREE!!

However, it will be so nice to finally have a house to move into and to get settled somewhere permanantly. The LSU and Arkansas chairs make up the "living room" of the apartment and the boys are getting used to sleeping in very close quarters. Jamey and I are realizing that an air mattress is really only for temporary use!! As most of you know, Jamey and I have NEVER had cable while in Atlanta. This is due to the fact that we pick up at least 12 channels just by using an antenae. However, we quickly learned that an antenae in Shreveport only yields ABC, Fox, and, of course, some religious channel. I guess we will finally have to break down and order cable. (I'm sure Jamey won't mind finally getting to watch those LSU games we usually miss).

Well, the best news of all is that we have a contract on a house in Shreveport!!! PRAISE GOD!! We close on the house at 7538 Millbrook, Shreveport, LA 71105 on March 4 (the day after we close on our house in Atlanta). We are so excited. Despite most of the houses we looked at, it doesn't need much work. It is move -in ready and has a beautiful backyard. The house is in a great neighborhood with excellent schools. We are, however, a little concerned that the neigborhood is so quiet. I hope, with our soon-to-be three boys, we don't become "that family" in our neighborhood.
